Union Plus is putting the “bargain” in collective bargaining this month with the launch of a new blog offering discounts and consumer information for union families.

The site, Collective Bargains, offers deals and tips on everything from college savings grants, discounts on car rentals, free gas vouchers and more. It also provides fresh news about current developments in the movement, said Union Plus Communication Manager Jennifer Dorr:

Our goal with the blog is to provide timely content for union members. Here we can offer deals and discounts while also talking about current union issues. The blog helps us get out our message faster about certain time-sensitive offers, consumer tips and labor news stories.

We expect to update it with new posts several times a month.

If you’re still in the market for a Father’s Day gift, a recent post on the blog suggests Weber grills, which are union-made in the USA.

And for members planning on moving this summer, the blog offers advice on how to avoid current moving scams plus other valuable consumer tips. Members can also take advantage of discounts on moving vans and moving services.

The blog offers many more handy links to resources:

  • A 15 percent discount off regular monthly rate for all individual or family plans with AT&T wireless, the nation’s only unionized wireless provider.
  • Savings of up to 25 percent on car rentals from unionized companies like Alamo, Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Hertz and National.
  • A no-cost prescription card that can help you save an average of 15 percent off brand name drugs and 40 percent off generic prescription drugs. More than 56,000 pharmacies nationwide honor these discounts.

Dorr said that IBEW members taking advantage of the offers save an average of more than $3,000 annually:

IBEW members can stay connected to all the latest deal news by bookmarking the site or signing up for e-mail or text alerts for when a new post is added.

IBEW members and retirees can immediately use a range of Union Plus benefits, though some of the hardship grant programs are only available to Union Plus Credit Card holders.

Visit the blog or go to the main Union Plus site for more information.
